Focus

Axel Partners provides private equity financing for both growth and management transition scenarios. Our focus is on small to mid-sized companies based in the B.C. Southern Interior with at least $1 million in revenues. Ideal deal size is around $1-2 million in equity which can be combined with other equity or subordinated debt. We are entrepreneurs ourselves and are looking for strong management teams to partner with and help build successful companies.

Team

  • Brent Bolleman, Managing Director - Over 15 years of experience in strategic planning and fundraising, 10 years as the CEO of two technology companies and 5 years as principal of Axel Partners. Leverages unique combination of technical, marketing, and financial skills to optimally position companies in terms of strategy, fundraising, or exit. MASc from UBC.
  • Sheldon Gardiner, Partner - Work experience with Amoco, CP Rail and Pan Canadian Petroleum. Co-founded and sold 3 companies in distinct industries. Founding principal of Westridge Capital (2007), focused on direct or joint investment in growing private companies. Bachelor of Commerce (Saskatchewan) with a business development background. Sheldon is involved in a number of non-profit causes locally including a business advisory role with Okanogan College Business School SIFE program.

    Axel Partners is focused on investing capital primarily from the following two sources:
  • Southern Interior Innovation Fund (SIIF) - Brent Bolleman is a co-manager of this $6.9 million dollar fund comprised of money from credit unions, SIDIT, and individuals including himself. SIIF is focused primarily on growth capital financing with a minority equity position.
  • Internal Capital - Axel Partners principals are investing personal capital in deals, focused primarily on management buyout scenarios with a majority equity position. We also have connections to larger capital pools outside the region (e.g. Calgary, Vancouver) and can syndicate deals or provide referrals for larger transactions.
